Chemical note book Lawrence Sc. School 1st term 1861-1862 : manuscript, 1861-1862.

Probably a laboratory notebook recording chemical experiments, and with mathematical calculations. Also includes pencil and pen and ink sketches and doodles of figures. With a 1939 October 10 letter from Ralph Barton Perry to Grace Thayer Richards Conant (Mrs. James Bryant Conant). Letter notes that this notebook is given to her with the "compliments of Henry James and myself." He suggests she read his, "Thought and character of William James" for background.
